Life during lockdown
Although my part time job is with the NHS and I'm still working, I'm finding time to paint and improve my practice.
I've been working on another commission, which I will reveal once given to the client. It's a portrait in oil, my first completed (I still have my self portrait to work on!) and I just need to leave time before I can varnish and then hand over, once we're allowed to mingle again!
I've also volunteered to paint a portrait for free, for an NHS keyworker, and I'm waiting on the images. It's part of an initiative on Instagram #portraitfornhsheroes and many artists are taking part, it seemed only right too, as I'm also in the NHS family!
To pass some time (in addition to work and childcare) I've been watching some live portrait videos from the artist Jonathen Yeo, whose work I admire. Fascinating to watch the process and really interesting interviewing of the sitters too. So far it's been the actor/director Dexter Fletcher and Professor Brian Cox. I think there might be more, but check out his website, some great work on there and learned quite a few tips on oil painting!
I'm generally hoping to use this time to create some paintings so that when everything opens up again, I'll have more in my portfolio.
